Soil Testing

Soil testing is a crucial first step in our soil stabilization process. Our team conducts comprehensive boring tests to analyze the existing soil composition and properties at the construction site. We drill into the ground, collect soil samples, and send them to a third-party lab to test them and determine the soil’s current properties. Soil testing can also be conducted by any geotechnical engineer to get the properties of the soil.

 

These tests help identify any potential issues that could compromise the strength and stability of the soil, such as high moisture content, and the presence of expansive clays or organic matter.

 

Chemical Injection into the Soil

One of the key soil stabilization methods we employ involves injecting our EARTHLOK SOIL STABILIZER directly into the subgrade clays beneath and 5 ft around the structure site.

 

This is achieved through a process called hydraulic jetting. During hydraulic jetting, a specialized steel wand injects the stabilizer at high pressures ranging from 300 to 600 PSI. Depending on the project requirements, the jetting wand penetrates to desired depths between 3 feet and 15 feet below the surface.

 

Injections are strategically spaced at 1-foot intervals to ensure comprehensive distribution and treatment of the soil. As the EARTHLOK SOIL STABILIZER is injected, it disperses and mixes with the soil’s existing moisture content, initiating a chemical reaction that prevents clay from absorbing excess migrating moisture.

 

The precise amount of stabilizer injected is calculated to achieve the optimal soil-moisture ratio for the specific soil composition we’ve tested. This hydraulic jetting method stabilizes compounds in subgrade clays evenly, creating a reinforced and solidified foundation for the structure.

Final Grading and Preparation

Once injection is complete, we perform final quality tests after 72 hours to make sure that the stabilized soil meets your project specifications.
